EVM's
conductor, Paula Roberts, is also currently
the director of EKOS (Edmonton Kiwanis Singers), a 40 member
adult show choir. She is on the Artists In Residence Roster
for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts offering her popular
week long elementary school residency program, "The
Canadian Music Express" featuring sessions in Canadian
and multicultural music.
Ms.
Roberts is an instructor for the Grant MacEwan Summer Vocal
Workshop, and has taught private voice lessons at the Community
College. Any "spare time" she gets is spent writing
and arranging choral music for NorthWind Music Publishing,
her own company founded in 1997 with the late jazz pianist,
Bill Emes. She has directed numerous Edmonton choirs including
the Grant MacEwan Outreach Jazz Choir for teens; the Northgate
Lions Choralaires (a senior adult choir), and the children's
program for Edmonton Musical Theatre.
Paula
is a graduate of Indiana University (BME-choral), was a
conducting apprentice with Michel Gervais, founder of Pro
Coro, for a season, and has studied with vocal jazz arranger,
Phil Mattson. She is also a past member of the Alberta Choral
Federation Board of Directors. |
